|A little detail|
I have worn this skirt so many times, yet I cannot seem to get a good picture of me in it. As cute and semi-complicated as the skirt is, the shirt has quickly won my heart over.
She is made out of a cotton stretch sateen in dark purple from Joann Fabric.
The skirt seemed a bit complicated, but it is rather simple if you take a minute to review the pictures and instructions a few times over. I will admit, I initially had sewn the pleats all the way wrong and there is something funky going on with my gathering... But nothing that a cute belt cant fix!
The top took less than an hour to complete and it works well with jeans or tucked into a skirt! It is my new go to shirt. I pretty much wear it once a week :-/...
I used to be afraid to make tops because I always thought they were complicated. This pattern has three pieces. Basically fool proof! The first time I made the shirt, I included the side seam slits. The second time I omitted them and it did not make a difference. I could very easily see this shirt as a quick and fun summer dress that just needs a belt to bring it together.
Since the top was so quick, I also made a little bow just for fun!
