You Make My Heart Flutter

A little detail
Hi There! This posting is for Simplicity 1690, a skirt I named, "You Make My Heart Flutter".

I have worn this skirt so many times, yet I cannot seem to get a good picture of me in it.  As cute and semi-complicated as the skirt is, the shirt has quickly won my heart over.

She is made out of a cotton stretch sateen in dark purple from Joann Fabric.

The skirt seemed a bit complicated, but it is rather simple if you take a minute to review the pictures and instructions a few times over.  I will admit, I initially had sewn the pleats all the way wrong and there is something funky going on with my gathering... But nothing that a cute belt cant fix!

The top took less than an hour to complete and it works well with jeans or tucked into a skirt!  It is my new go to shirt.  I pretty much wear it once a week :-/...

I used to be afraid to make tops because I always thought they were complicated.  This pattern has three pieces.  Basically fool proof!  The first time I made the shirt, I included the side seam slits.  The second time I omitted them and it did not make a difference. I could very easily see this shirt as a quick and fun summer dress that just needs a belt to bring it together.

Since the top was so quick, I also made a little bow just for fun!

  1. I'm not sure what you saw going on, but this skirt is really cute on you and you're correct, the belt just adds that "special" touch! I think the cute top you made in less than an hour, would look great with that purple skirt too! Nice job!

    1. Thank you! Maybe I might wear them together, guess I never thought of it?
